FAQ

Q: I’m not an IIDA Student. Can I participate?
A: While we certainly won't dock you any points if you are not an IIDA Student Member, you WILL receive a discount for entering the competition if you are already a card-carrying Member. If you'd like to join a network of over 13,000 design professionals, you're going to want to learn more about becoming an IIDA Student Member here http://www.iida.org/content.cfm/student-membership

Q: Can I submit a project done for class work?
A: Yes, sure, but if you worked as a team, you need all the participating student members to enter with you - giving credit where credit is due. The upside, you’ve got that many more partners spreading the “vote for me” message.

Q: What kind of images are acceptable?
A: You are able to upload up to 4 images of your sustainable design, these images can include one floorplan. You can also submit text describing your project to better explain your design to viewers, voters and judges.
Upload 3-D renderings, color drawings, CADD, Revit - or any combination of these.

UPLOADING A PHOTO – HOW?
a) Browse your computer's hard drive for your image file.
b) Upload from a URL. Note: Your URL should end with .jpg, .png or .gif
Click "Continue" only once the media upload is complete. Give your entry a title, add tags and a description, and submit your entry!

Q: I made a mistake on my entry. Can I go back and make a correction?
A: Unfortunately, due to the voting involved in the contest, we cannot allow any material changes after you've submitted your entry.

Q: What type of content I should avoid when entering?
A: We'd like to say that your creativity should know no bounds (as the saying goes), but we need to be mindful of—and ask that you be mindful of–our common sensibilities and others' work product and creative input. Please be sure that your renderings do not include inappropriate language or attitude, inappropriate or obscene images or images that focus on items that belong to, were created by or may be protected as the work of other third parties. In terms of that last point, the basic idea is that we don't want you to use materials that belong to someone else and that you don't have the right to submit for purposes of the competition. We want to respect others' rights just as we all want to have our own rights respected.

Q: What's the difference between the Judges Awards and the Popular Vote Award?
A: JUDGED WINNERS:
Representatives chosen by Sponsor will select top prize winners from the entrants. The decisions of the Judges are final and binding on all matters relating to the selection of prize winners. The judging will take place as soon as practicable after the conclusion of the Submission Period. The Finalists will be judged on the following criteria (weighted with the percentages shown) in the Judges' sole and unfettered discretion:
The originality and creativity of the Entry and the Depicted Space (50%);
How well the Depicted Space evokes or embodies interior design aesthetic and sustainable design (40%);
Ranking of Entry in public voting (10%)

POPULAR VOTE WINNER:
Entries will be posted at the Entry Site for public voting. Sponsor in its discretion reserves the right at any time not to post, or to remove, any Entry that fails to comply with these Official Rules. Visitors to the Entry Site will be given the opportunity to vote on eligible Entries during the Submission Period. Anyone may vote, and an Entrant may vote for his/her own Entry; provided, however, that (a) voters must either register and create an account at http://ssdc.strutta.com/ or login with Facebook Connect to vote, (b) electronic or automatically generated voting is not allowed, and (c) only one vote per person, per entry allowed. Multiple votes cast for the same entry by the same person will be determined and disallowed in Sponsor's sole discretion. Sponsor encourages voters to judge entries based on the criteria for winning set forth in these Official Rules.

The entry with the highest number of votes at the end of the last day of the Submission Period will win the $1,000.00 CASH PRIZE. Sponsor's decisions as to numbers of votes for each Entry (after excluding, in its discretion, any ineligible votes or other votes not compliant with these Official Rules) are final.
