CONCEPT
The concept used to create this sacred space was the sublime. By definition "Sublime" changes from one author to another, however most agree that sublime is characterized by the greatness, vastness, incomprehensible, and the power to cause an intense pleasure in the observer, a pleasure that has transcendent qualities. The concept has been associated with elements of nature such as wild landscapes, storms and mountains. The most important element of the sublime is the effect that provokes on the observer.
INSPIRATION
Architectural strategies were expressed in a sublime alternative to the typical dwelling. The inspiring shape of Elsa Peretti’s Large Bone Cuff was stretched and straightened to sculpt this freeform building as an sentimental artifact in memorial of a young woman who past away, whom to sacred space is dedicated.
IDEA/FORM
The sacred form seems to lift off from the ground significantly, rising meaningfully to the majesty of sky. The idea was to create an exposed finished piece with sustainable technologies to celebrate nature and raw naked materials.
